Hermon/Banias Reserve – The stream flows on the slopes of Mount Hermon, creating a waterfall. The nature reserve offers a range of walking paths, picnic areas and bathing opportunities in the cool water of the springs and waterfalls. Reach the reserve via Road 99, turning into the Banias Reserve parking lot.
Opening Hours: In the summer months: 8:00 A.M.-5:00 P.M. In the winter: 8:00 A.M.-4:00 P.M. On Fridays and holiday eves, the reserve closes an hour earlier.

Apple Picking

Apple Picking – The apple-picking season begins in mid-August and continues through the middle of October. You’ll be able to enjoy a tour of the orchard that includes picking apples straight from the tree and meeting with farmers for an excellent cup of tea – an interesting and exciting activity for the entire family.

Cherry Picking

Cherry Picking – Each year, from mid-May through the end of June, everyone is invited to pick cherries and enjoy country meals and sweet tea. During the summer months, July-September, visitors can enjoy family outings picking wild berries, figs and other seasonal fruit.

Mount Hermon

Mount Hermon – The Narkis Boutique Hotel is the closest hotel to Mount Hermon, and is five minutes away from the only ski resort in Israel. The site has 14 ski slopes, the highest one 2,076 meters above sea level. Visitors can ski, snowboard and sled down the slopes during the winter months. Over the summer the Hermon is open to visitors, offering nature walks, lookout points and cable car rides. There is an entrance fee.

Nimrod Fortress

Nimrod Fortress – Overlooking the Banias, on the slopes of Mount Hermon, is the extremely impressive Nimrod Fortress. Guests can tour the area, between the watchtowers and water reserves. There are secret passageways built of huge stones, from the fortress to a hidden entrance, while incredible views and sights surround you on all sides. At present the fortress is named after Nimrod, the Biblical hero, but its ancient Arabic name is A-Tzviva Fortress, and it was build in 1228 by Al-Aziz Othman, the ruler of the Banias, to block the route taken by the Holy Roman Emperor Kaiser Friedrich II’s army, which threatened to advance from Acre to Damascus. Tourists are advised to arrive ahead of sunset, so as not to miss the setting sun.

Ram Pool

Ram Pool – “The Highest Pool” is situated in the northern Golan Heights, near the villages of Majdal Shams and Misada, just ten minutes away from the Narkis Boutique Hotel. The pool’s water sources are a mystery, but according to many geologists, it is a collapsed volcanic crater. Many legends are linked to the round pool, whose clear, sweet water is nestled between mountains and hills in the heart of a rainy, unique region. According to one legend, the low hill adjacent to Ram Pool is called Jabl a-Sheikha (Sheikh’s Wife Hill), and north of that, at a height of 2,100 meters is Mount Hermon, known also as Jabl a-Sheikh (Sheikh’s Mountain). According to legend, the sheikh stopped loving his wife, after many years together, and Ram Pool is that woman’s tear-filled eye. The pool is the only water source for agriculture in the northern Golan Heights, and underneath it are natural springs. The entire region is covered in oak trees, and it serves as a large home for many animals; herds of gazelles, rabbits, foxes, wild boars and jackals roam the area.

Gamla Nature Reserve

Gamla Nature Reserve – Beautiful views, treasures from the past and rare bird watching. The reserve has a viewpoint at the edge of a cliff from where visitors can view vultures leaving their nests in the morning hours and returning in the afternoon. Another viewpoint overlooks the 50-meter Gamla waterfall, the highest waterfall in Israel. The nature reserve has many marked trails, as well as streams with water flowing throughout the year. Remains of a Jewish settlement were found in Gamla, as were remnants from a Byzantine Temple and an ancient synagogue. In the reserve visitors can find a cafeteria, lookout points and picnic tables.

Majdal Shams

Majdal Shams – The “Sun Tower” is the highest altitude Druze village and is the first to enjoy the first rays of the sunrise. Tourists may visit the village’s unique fruit and honey market every day, and the souvenirs and food market between the villages of Misada and Majdal Shams. Turn right and eastward at the entrance to the village to reach “Shouting Hill,” on the nearby border with Syria, where you can see the houses of residents who live on the other side of the border. There is a playground for children in the village – Golan Playland – that includes a gymboree, ball pit, omega and interactive computer games. The village also has a number of workshops where fireplaces are built, restaurants serving traditional food, cafes with an array of desserts, including knafeh and baklava, as well as grocery stores.

Majdal Shams can be reached via Road 989, through the Nimrod Fortress and Neve Ativ. The hotel is at the village’s western entrance, before the entrance to Mount Hermon. Alternately, it can be reached via Road 99, from the Banias Reserve, through the Druze village of Misada.
